Rich, Vroon Win With Fastest Times In 4A at SCHSL Meet By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Sam Rich of Catawba Ridge (US#12) won his second straight SCHSL Class 4A cross country title on Saturday at Sandhills Research Center in Columbia, S.C. Rich, a Notre Dame commit, won the race handily by 31 seconds in 15:20.8. Second-place finisher Knox Young, a sophomore from Greenville, led his team past Catawba Ridge 104-114 for the 4A title. The James Island girls were even better this year than when they won last year by a single point. This time, the group scored 31 with Hannah Vroon winning her second consecutive individual title in 18:15.2. In the 5A competition, Fort Mill put three boys in the top 10, including runner-up Devon Sibley, as the Yellowjackets split 61 seconds 1-5 on the way to 62 points and the championship. Sophomore Jake Liebert from Wando won the individual 5A title by 21 seconds in 15:42.8. JL Mann retained the girls 5A title with 42 points. Senior Madison Roush led the team to victory with her individual win in 18:26.8. Seventh grader Kendra Miles from Lexington was second, 13 seconds back. Mann put three finishers in the top five.
